Maureen Noumov

Hi my name is Maureen Noumov, and I never thought I would be a writer until I went back to college to finish my degree. I always thought that writing was a gift just like having a beautiful singing voice. When I went back to school I found out that actually it is a skill that one can learn. My professors encouraged me in my writing, so I became more confident.

My major in college was history, particularly modern European, mostly British history. I got a Masters degree and wrote a thesis on Jan Smuts, who was a Prime Minister in South Africa. Since then I have always been interested in South Africa. My first book is a historical novel based in Cape Town during the 17th century.

We worship at Touchstone Christian Fellowship and for the last six years have been involved in puppetry through our outreach ministry called Touchstone Tales Theatre. We perform at Shriners Hospital, the Fourth of July, the State Fair, Fair Oaks Chicken Festival, and various other venues. I have been privileged to write the scripts for our performances and for our monthly puppet shows for the Sunday School.

Other than writing and reading, my other interests include photography and bicycle riding. My husband and I have been married over 40 years and have a grown son. So far, there are no grandchildren. I have attended some of the critique meetings at Capital Christian, and have found their input very helpful and encouraging.
